When LEXUS was first conceptualized in 1983, it was built under the mandate of creating a car that would not be a mere follower in the luxury car range.
To realize this, the designers and engineers at LEXUS spent years in their pursuit of creating a LEXUS. It was an endeavor that meant spending years on every bit of minutiae. As a result, the first LEXUS LS 400 was born in 1989 and it was immediately hailed as one of the finest automobiles ever made.
That was just the beginning. On the production lines, on the racetrack and in experimental vehicle exhibitions, we continue to push the boundaries with every new LEXUS created. The lessons we learn and the breakthroughs we achieve on the cutting edge of motorsports, concept vehicle designs and passenger car engineering are translated into meticulously-crafted vehicles that redefine the way automotive luxury is viewed and experienced.
